I literally used to dread going to the grocery store, EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. Let’s be real. Going to the store with little kids is NOT fun! I was often distracted while there because of my kids asking for everything in sight as we passed down aisle after aisle, while trying to locate some obscure item like wasabi paste that was not where it logically should be.
I often put off going to the grocery store and would wait until the last minute before finally making it, only to be exhausted after getting home from the whole ordeal. Half of the time I would either forget my list or walk in without a list completely because I had been so busy I didn’t have time to make one but knew we still needed groceries.
And not to mention loading the groceries in the car and then unloading them moments later when you get home. When you have a large family like mine, weekly grocery shopping should be an olympic event. The trunk is always loaded down to the max, which met many judgmental glances during the whole “toilet paper shortage of 2020”.
After struggling for years with the way I was approaching grocery shopping, my eyes were finally opened to a whole new world! I discovered Walmart Grocery Pick Up!! And oh my word. It has been a life-changer. I will have to admit, I was very skeptical at the beginning. The thought of someone else picking out my produce was something my over-controlling personality had a hard time giving up. Even though friends told me it was so great, I still had a, “it might be right for you but not for me” mentality. I continued doing what I was doing until I was feeling out of control is several areas of my life, and this seemed like a logical place to try to get ahead. I reluctantly gave it a try.
I have now been using Walmart Grocery Pick Up for a few years! I will say, the system is by no means perfect but what service is? For me the benefits far outweigh any frustration or hiccups I have experienced during my time using Walmart Grocery Pickup and I am not sure I could ever go back.
9 reasons you should use Walmart grocery pick up
Reason #1- You don't have to Step foot into the store (or Unbuckle your kids)
Who doesn’t want to be able to get their groceries without having to actually go inside to shop for them? With Walmart Grocery Pickup, you get the convenience of going to the store without actually having to walk aisle-by-aisle to find what you’re looking for. And a huge added bonus is that someone else will load your groceries for you! How great is that?!
If you have kids, not having to take them inside might be the only convincing you may need to try out this awesome service. No more whining kids. No more asking for everything they see. No more temper tantrums or teenage bad attitudes about going to the store. Your kids don’t even have to unbuckle! Your life will be a whole lot easier by not having to take your kids into the store.
Reason #2- you can Avoid Crowds, Germs and awkward grocery store conversations
In this post-Covid-19 era, avoiding people and germs is often enticing. Knowing that you will not have to touch things inside the store, be close to other shoppers, or the grocery store attendants is certainly something to make you want to try online grocery shopping.
While at the store, it is likely that from time to time you will run into acquaintances and engage in the awkward grocery store conversation niceties that everyone takes part in. Having a lengthy conversation is difficult when you clearly both have a task to do and often limited time in which to accomplish it. Stay in your car and you can avoid these awkward moments at the grocery store.
Reason #3- it's Easier to stay on budget and not Impulse buy
Since food is expensive, it is always nice when we can save money and stay on budget. By shopping online, you can shop directly from the grocery ads adding seasonal and sale items directly to your cart. You can see your total in your cart as you add items and adjust as needed for your particular budget.
In addition, assuming you shop from the comfort of your home, you are able to look at your pantry/fridge without wondering if you need an item. You can also keep from grabbing those items on the end cap at the store that you really don’t need but just can’t keep from purchasing, like a box of donuts or extra bag of chips.
Reason #4- you Don't have to hunt for items
We’ve all wasted so much time walking up and down every single aisle multiple times, looking for that one item we can’t seem to find. Allow someone else to search for those new recipe ingredients and weekly necessities. And we all know that grocery stores seem to move things around just when we thought we knew exactly where to find them. Now it doesn’t even matter because with Walmart Grocery Pickup, aimless wandering is a thing of the past.
Reason #5- It's Easier to Meal Plan
If you like to plan ahead, Walmart Grocery Pickup is an extremely useful tool to help you with that process. I often search my Pinterest boards for my favorite recipes for ideas of what to make while simultaneously grocery shopping. Doing both at the same time kills two birds with one stone and it is so nice to know my family will have good meals on the table all week long.
Reason #6- it Saves Time
Who couldn’t use a little more time in their life? I feel like by using Walmart Grocery Pickup, I have regained a lot of time into my days. Now I can grocery shop while relaxing and watching a show at night, I can add some grocery items while waiting at a doctor appointment or even while getting my hair done. It is so nice to know that I can shop anytime from anywhere.
Reason #7- They have Great customer Service
Just like in all service industries, there are sometimes things that go wrong. Occasionally I will have an item missing that I really needed, have a long wait time for pick up, or a produce item doesn’t look great. The great thing is that substitutions are made when someone isn’t available and often they increase the quantity or give you a better brand. Likewise you can specify if you don’t want to substitute.
One time I got home and realized my cucumbers did not look very good. I called customer service and they quickly and easily gave me a refund for the item. Another time I was missing a couple of items that I should have had. Upon calling customer service, they discovered that the attendant accidentally forgot to give me a bag. They offered for me to return and pick it up or to refund me for those items. Although not the most convenient, they still made it right and I appreciated their efforts.
A time or two I have gone to pick up and the wait has been longer than usual. The attendant offered to give me a promo code for the inconvenience. So far, all my experiences with Walmart Grocery attendants and customer service has been outstanding.
Reason #8- It is simple and easy to use
Although ordering online has a slight learning curve to figure out the right sizes and quantities to order, overall it is a very simple process and one that most anyone could figure out. Their help button of the main website would also be a help if you need additional support.
Reason #9-It is overall More convenient than traditional shopping.
Besides these 8 reasons listed above, to me the overall convenience of ordering groceries online and picking them up from the store is simply unmatched. I am no longer a grumpy grocery store mom who dreads going on a weekly basis. Most of the time my groceries are ready the next day, sometimes the same day. I can pick up in my pajamas without stares from others because no one can really see what I’m wearing. I can also start my list and continue adding throughout the week and my husband can even do the same if he logs into our account (maybe I should teach him to do that!)
I love that, while getting groceries is a necessary chore, it has been simplified and improved with Walmart Grocery Pickup. I hope you try it out some day soon. Give it a try!
